PROFILE OF MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT

The department of Mathematics established in 1984 caters to the educational requirements of the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in engineering and technology. The objective of the department is to impart quality education to the students and motivate them to apply the various mathematical techniques in their respective fields.

The department has 14 well-qualified faculty members with rich academic and research experience. Four of the faculty members are doctorates and six others are pursuing their research towards obtaining a Ph.D., degrees in various fields of mathematics.

Besides handling Engineering Mathematics, which is common for all branches in the first four semesters, the faculty members are also handling specialized subjects like

•  Probability and Statistics

•  Probability and Queuing Theory

•  Probability and Random Process

•  Discrete Mathematics

•  Resource Management Techniques

•  Numerical Methods

Active research is being carried out in the areas of

•  Geometrical Function Theory

•  Physiological Fluid Dynamics

•  Graph Theory

•  Fixed Point Theory

•  Wavelets

The faculty members have published their research findings in reputed international and national journals and are keeping their knowledge updated by attending and conducting relevant conferences, seminars and workshops.

The department organizes a technical symposium “Infinity” at the inter-collegiate level thereby encouraging the students to enhance their math skills and talents.
