He carried out research in the field of ‘Fracture Mechanics’.
He studied the fracture behaviour of Aluminium alloy used for the
fuel tank of Prithvi Missile and obtained his Ph.D. Degree in 1995.
He returned back to Government College of Engineering, Salem and
served in various capacities as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Professor
and Vice Principal. He was promoted as Principal and posted to Alagappa
Chettiar College of Engineering, Karaikudi in the year 2000. Under
his able leadership, it was elevated to No.1 rank among the colleges
affiliated to the Anna University.
He has been a member of the Syndicate
and Academic Council of Anna University till June 2005. He is a
member of standing committee on affiliation, Anna University. He
is a member of Boards of Studies of
(i) Anna University,
(ii) PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore and
(iii) National Institute of Technology, Trichy.
He was the Chairman and Member of Boards
of Studies of
(i) Periyar University and
(ii) University of Madras.
He served as member of Governing Councils
of
(i) Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai
(ii) Sona College of Technology, Salem and
(iii) KLN College of Engineering, Madurai.
He served as Chairman and Member of
Inspection Committees constituted by Government of Tamilnadu, Anna
University, Periyar University and All India Council for Technical
Education. He was the Zonal Coordinator of Examinations of Anna
University conducting University Examinations for about 25 colleges.
He was also the Regional Director of Research of Anna University
coordinating the research activities of Anna University in the Southern
Region.
He is a member of Professional bodies
such as Indian Institute of Metals, Indian Society for Technical
Education and Institution of Engineers. He served as Vice Chairman
of Indian Institute of Metals, Salem Chapter for three years. He
has completed a number of projects sponsored by All India Council
for Technical Education. He was instrumental in getting 14.5 crores
from World Bank under “Technical Education Quality Improvement
Project” to Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology,
Karaikudi.
He joined BSA Crescent Engineering
College on the 1st of July 2005.
He is a recognized guide of Anna
University. He is presently guiding 8 students for Ph.D. Programme
and one student for M.S. Programme. He has published a number of
papers in National and International Journals and presented a number
of papers in National and International Conferences.
He is interested in Sports and plays Basket-ball, Volley-ball, Table-Tennis
and Badminton. He is the Zonal Sports Coordinator, coordinating
the sports activities of Anna University for about 25 colleges.
